Very Rare Legendary US Ten Thousand Dollar Gold Certificate.

PCGS Certified Very Fine 30

This is a fantastic example of this very rare note graded by one of the top currency graders in Very Fine 30 conditioned. It has been neatly Hole Punched Cancelled as virtually all such bills have been.

This is a very high grade for this note do to the fact that virtually all known examples came from when the fire department threw what they thought were worthless boxes of paper out a window during a fire. So almost all examples show fire, smoke and water damage as well as tears and other flaws.

The extraordinary history of these notes only adds to their appeal and added to the fact that the legality of even owning such a note was in question for some time this make this a clear treasure and a must of any collector of such rare bills or just anyone who always wanted to own a United States Ten Thousand Dollar Gold Certificate.

I feel safe to say that these are only going to become even more scares and collectible as the chance of the Fire Department finding and throwing out another box of burning Ten Thousand Dollar Gold Notes approaches nill.

So not only is this a great Gold Certificate in Very Fine Condition with no flaws other than that it has been Neatly Hole Punched Cancelled ( and if you can find an uncancilled note it will be many times the value of this note as for a long time no examples of an uncanilled note was believed to exist and the handful that have appeared went for mind blowing numbers.) So it is in my opinion a great investment.

These Untitled States Gold Certificates are not negotiable so don't try to make change with them at you local coffee shop though the looks you get would be priceless.

Not only is this a fantastic note on it's own but it's history makes it even more valuable than the average Ten Thousand Dollar Gold Certificate because it was part of the near legendary Eric P. Newman collection.

Both PCGS and NGC have called the Eric P. Newman one of the greatest numismatists of all time.

Eric P. Newman (born May 25, 1911) is an American numismatist. He has written "works about early American coins and paper money considered the standards on their subjects" as well as hundreds of articles. He has amassed one of the finest private collections of American coins and currency, and is the only living person to have owned all five 1913 Liberty Head nickels. Newman sold his collection over five auctions in 2013–2014 for almost $55 million

Among his many honors are the Archer M. Huntington Medal (the highest award of the American Numismatic Society in 1978 and the Medal of the Royal Numismatic Society in 1991.The American Numismatic Association inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 1986 and named him Numismatist of the Year in 1996. The American Numismatic Society commissioned a bas relief portrait which was presented to him at his 100th birthday celebration,
